The National Museum of Korea opened in October of 2005 in a new building in Yongsan Family Park in Seoul, South Korea. The museum contains over 150,000 pieces in its collection with 11,000 on display at one time. It is the largest museum in Asia and the sixth-largest museum in the world in terms of floor space, covering 307,227 square feet. |

In the museum, visitors can see the
national treasures from the various dynasties included a bronze incense
burner from the Baekje dynasty, paintings from the Chosun dynasty and
tomb treasures from the Shilla dynasty. There is also a very
interesting cartography section of the museum which has old maps from
as far back as the 15th century, a whole section on calligraphy and how
chinese characters influenced the Korean language.
The jewelry and accessories found inside some tombs in the Baekje dynasty could be a particular source of inspiration to jewelry designers. Futhermore, there are also Buddhist sculptures, private collections which were donated by individuals, and art from around Asia.Taking photoes are
allowed. |
Besides that, benches and resting
spaces have been installed in many palaces for tired visitors. There
also proveided food court, cultural products stores, coffee shop, and
restaurants. Visitors can go there to take the rest with buy foods and
drinks. |
